What DEFENS does
To further its objectives, DEFENS:
- Engages in dialogue with decision-makers and ordinary citizens about how issues such as the open society, the market economy, globalisation, free trade and private property affect our day-to-day lives and personal liberty
- Organises educational events and discussion forums with specialists giving talks about issues pertaining to DEFENS's objectives. These are open to the public
- Releases material relating to the issues mentioned above
- Distributes material about the issues to the media and directly to the public
We intend to set up groups for discussion and other activity on a regional level for interested citizens, and also for researchers and academics. The purpose of these groups is to hold local events for the discussion of the issues DEFENS concerns itself with, and to produce material such as articles, speeches and pieces of research.
DEFENS denounces all violence.

Want to do more?
If you are interested in advocating human rights, globalization and a free market economy, and really want to get involved, why not set up a local chapter of DEFENS in your own country? Currently DEFENS only operates in Finland, but the issues we talk about are truly global. Whether you live in a developing country struggling with unfair treatment in the world economy or a Western country whose subsidies stifle growth in the developing world, advocating DEFENS's principles locally will enable you to work towards a brighter future.
